When it comes to acquiring new clients, your website should be your most valuable tool. Since Jan 2018, there has been an average of 1 million new internet users a day that come online for the first time.

Millions of new users every day result in a higher demand for products and services found online. Capitalize on this growing opportunity by executing these five strategies to increase the number of visitors and new clients your site produces.

Identify search intent through keyword research

Think like an SEO expert and make the objective of your keyword research to identify the issues that are directly related to your keyword topic. There are subtopics that are automatically linked to your keyword that you will need to include in your page to adequately satisfy search intent. Google loves comprehensive solutions that leave a user completely engaged with no reason to perform another search.

Create a list of as many alternate search phrases and keyword topics from questions posted in niche related forums. Type in [your keyword] + forums and explore the top ten forums that are displayed in the search results.

Read discussion threads and write down the issues discussed and the questions asked that are related to your keywords. These are excellent topics to include in your content because they are first-hand issues that are being experienced. The fact that these people felt the need to seek a solution in a forum provides direct insight as to what the needs are of your potential clients.

Beef up your list of potential subtopics by typing in your keyword on Wikipedia. Look through the table of contents on your keyword page and you will see links to a variety of subtopics with a ton of information that has been added by various professionals. Wikipedia is a resource that could tip the scales in your favour when you are building a page to outperform your competition if you can find more subtopics to include on your page than any other page ranked in a top position.

Fine-tune your keyword selection

A well-optimized website should only appear to users who are specifically looking for what is being offered. Optimize your content for long-tail keywords to produce more accurate matches with visitors who are typing the very same or similar key phrases.

Choose keywords that will attract visitors that are the best match for your business. Not all traffic is good traffic. It would be a waste of time for someone to click on your site when you’re not offering what they’re looking for. This will actually degrade your website’s performance metrics. Visitors who land on your site will immediately back out when they don’t see anything that matches what they need. The less time the average visitor spends your site will negatively affect your ranking.

Bounce rate and dwell time are both performance indicators that show how well visitors are engaging with your content. Higher dwell times and lower bounce rates make your site look good to search engines because it shows people are finding value in your content. Be descriptive with your target keyword and make sure you are supporting it with related content.

Create top-notch content

The quality of content that ranks in the top positions is continually getting better. We know from recent studies that the average word count for a site ranking in the number one position is 1890 words.

Articles that get shared the most on social media are over 3000 words. Word count, however, is not the measure of value, it’s the comprehensive coverage of articles with high word count.

Long-form, in-depth articles force you to dig deeper into your topic and discuss related topics. When you create your content, aim to dig deeper in order to create a page that has the characteristics of a top performer with a high word count and numerous subtopics.

Your keyword research will be instrumental in creating ideas and subtopics to include that will carry your article to peak performance. The list of keyword synonyms, subtopics and long-tail keywords you made during your research serve as an outline for the page you build. Before you begin writing listed you subtitles in order to provide a good flow that carries the reader smoothly from beginning to end.

Build an audience on stand-by

If you haven’t been building a social media network, it’s high time you started. You can generate instant traffic with a large network when you post your site’s content to social media. Building your network may take time but it will be well worth it since it serves as a way to instantly create an audience for the new content you publish.

Be consistent with the posts and commenting you do within niche related groups. Make yourself known by offering expert advice and responding to other people’s posts on similar content that you produce. People will share your posts if you ask-especially if you share theirs which leads to a larger network and a stronger ability to get people on your site.

Increase your domain authority

One of the accepted methods of link building is to guest post on blogs that accept and publish articles in your niche. The accumulation of referring domains that link to your site will push your domain authority higher which ultimately results in a competitive ranking.

Choose the sites you submit articles to based on their domain authority and relevance to your niche.

The top chef magazine may have a high domain authority but the backlink from their site wouldn’t be a good referral or “vote” of credibility for your site if you specialize in construction equipment.

If there are a high number of subscribers you will receive some referral traffic if the readers like your article making it worthwhile to put your best foot forward with a high-quality piece of content.

Conclusion

Invest in your website to increase its value as a lead generation tool. In order to attract more visitors, your site needs to rank for competitive terms which is possible through a consistent effort in producing top-notch content that performs well in the search results.

I personally believe that quality content is the backbone of all digital marketing strategies. You cannot have a great website without good quality content on the web pages, and creating web copy without keeping user intent in mind is simply being ignorant. No one can master the art of content management in a day though; it needs time and patience to compose engaging and interesting web content.
