Bing’s recent report has revealed some interesting information about online searches related to Valentine’s Day. The study unveils information on gifts that online audiences plan to give their loved ones this Valentine’s Day.

Among several gifts, candy tops the list, followed by greeting cards, flowers, jewelry, wardrobes, and gift cards. As per the findings of the report, every year, online searches for these things usually begin at the end of January and spikes during the first two weeks of February.

Ford’s Speed Dating Prank

One of my favourite Valentine’s unique marketing campaigns that tempted numerous people, like me, is the Speed Dating Prank by Ford. In 2015, one of the world’s most renowned companies Ford posted a video that went viral and has since then received over 13.5 million views. The special thing about the campaign was its idea. It was something that no one did before. They had brought a gorgeous professional stunt driver and asked unsuspected guys to meet her for a blind date. Dramatically, the video went viral and touched many nerves as it had been uploaded on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Love Labels – By Innocent

In 2012, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the famous UK based drink company ‘Innocent’ came up with the thought to allow their fans to create ‘Love Labels’ for their loved ones. Their consumers got the opportunity to create personalized messages, or to simply choose existing graphics and customize them. Further, Innocent also allowed them to print, attach and share the labels on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Cartier, a famous jewelry company, took a different path to promote their business. They created a video and showed three different ways to make time stand still and say “I Love You” to your loved ones. “Cartier – The Proposal” is a video that had touched millions and another of my favourites. The video had a profound impact on the minds of the audiences due to its touching drama. Well, you can too implement such ideas to enhance your brand engagement globally on such occasions and what’s better than Valentine’s Day?

Ryanair

Ryanair Ltd., a famous Ireland-based airline company on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, had launched a competition on Twitter with the hashtag #loveRyanair. The competition was about encouraging people to post their pics with their loved ones, soul mates and asking them to choose their romantic dream destination, they ever wanted to visit. The winner was to get a chance to win free air tickets to his or her dream destination.

Revlon

Revlon, a well-reckoned cosmetic company, had tied up with Google to launch personalized Valentine’s Day GIF e-card program that was named “Love Is On.” Further, they allowed followers to share those animated GIFs on a variety of platforms. Revlon knew how to connect with the audiences and choose the occasion of Valentine’s Day for their brand promotion.

Debenhams, an online store had fully customized their site’s homepage to make it more appealing. They had simply put the tag “GIFTS designed FOR LOVE” to introduce special offers on the occasion of Valentine’s Day on their products including jewelry, perfumes, flowers, and lingerie.

Coca-Cola’s – Love is in the Air

Coca-Cola, one of the most loved beverage brands of all time had launched its video in which they tied Coca-Colas’ cans with heart-shaped balloons and freed them. The balloons flew across the city and took people by surprise. After all, you do not see cans fluttering their way with a heart-shaped balloon every day.

Red Velvet Oreo Flavored Cookies

For the famous cookie company Oreo, a digital marketing agency 360i had created a series of video showing six interesting stories about awkward and unexpected romance; here is the link of the videos. These videos highlighted everyday situations of people who were affected by Red Velvet Oreo cookies.

Lucky Voice Lovers

The karaoke specialist ‘Lucky Voice’ had launched a YouTube competition in 2012 with hashtag #LuckyVoiceLovers and challenged their fans to sing and win £100 worth fashion vouchers. The fans were supposed to film themselves singing their favourite track and upload it on YouTube to registering their participation. Entrants were then encouraged to vote for their video via friends and family on Facebook and Twitter.

Pilot Pen

The famous pen brand ‘Pilot’ had launched a campaign in which they asked their fans to create handwritten notes for their loved ones. The idea seemed little conventional in this digital age but it received a tremendous response from the people. The campaign basically coerced people to show their creativity for their loved ones.

    I think the design tone and styling can do it as well. Doesn’t always have to be save something or win something campaigns which takes the attention. After all, it’s okay to sell less if you sell it for full price and earns more. Creating inspiration around these campaigns can be very valuable for customers and then you can come off with a smaller discount in the campaign. In think this fashion brand does it really well.
