On June 3, 2026, Google officially announced new Search Generative AI performance reports in Google Search Console. For the first time, site owners have a dedicated view of how their content appears inside Google’s AI-powered search features, separate from standard organic data.

What Google Announced
The update was published on the Google Search Central Blog by Hillel Maoz, Search Ecosystem Engineering Manager, and Moshe Samet, Product Manager Lead for Search Console.
Google has introduced dedicated reports inside Search Console that show how your URLs appear within generative AI features on Google Search and Discover. Previously, this data was blended into the overall Performance report with no way to separate it out. Now there is a standalone view built specifically for AI feature visibility.
The rollout is currently limited to a subset of websites. Google stated it is using this phased approach to test the reports thoroughly and collect feedback before making them widely available.

The Two Report Surfaces
Google has structured the new reports around two surfaces:
Search Report: Covers generative AI features within Google Search, including AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Discover Report: Covers generative AI features within Google Discover, the personalised content feed available on mobile devices and the Google app.
Both reports exist alongside the standard Performance report. The generative AI data is also still included in the overall report, so you get both a consolidated and a dedicated view.
What Data Is Available
According to the official announcement, the following dimensions are available in the new reports:
- Impressions: How often your URLs appeared in generative AI features across Search and Discover.
- Pages: Which specific URLs from your site appeared inside AI features.
- Countries: Geographic breakdown of your AI visibility.
- Devices: Device type breakdown. Available for the Search report only.
- Dates: Performance trends with hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularity
One important point: click data is not part of these reports at this stage. The current release focuses on impression-level data only.
Why This Matters for SEO
Before this update, there was no reliable way to know whether your content was being cited inside AI Overviews or AI Mode. Overall impression counts could change due to AI feature activity, but you had no way to confirm it or track it over time.
This update gives website owners a measurable signal for AI search visibility. It confirms that Google views generative AI features as a distinct channel worth reporting on separately, not just an extension of traditional organic rankings.
For SEO teams, the immediate value is in identifying which pages Google’s AI is treating as citation-worthy sources, and understanding how that visibility varies by country, device, and time period. The date granularity, which goes down to hourly data, also makes it possible to correlate content changes with shifts in AI feature appearances.
How to Access the Reports
If your property is part of the initial rollout, you will find the Generative AI performance section in the left navigation inside Google Search Console. Google has also set up a dedicated feedback form within Search Console for these reports, and feedback can be submitted through the Google Search Central Community as well.
If you do not have access yet, the broader rollout is coming. Google has not confirmed a specific timeline for full availability.
